Faith and roller coasters

The thought of my 2-year old grand babe taking his very first roller coaster ride got me to thinking about fear and faith again.

This little boy brings so much joy to our entire family.

  • He was a God-sent rainbow at the end of a dark, fearful storm.
  • His arrival was birthed out of fear turned to faith.
  • His life overshadowed the grief and pain (and fear) that was and made it a thing of the past.

This week, for the first time, he experienced that fearful anticipation…followed by the sheer exhilaration of a roller coaster ride. Dad was riding right beside him all the way. He had faith that everything would be okay – because Daddy was there.

Obviously, this little boy’s faith is childlike.

He doesn’t know how to ponder over or question it. He is absolutely certain that Dad will provide, and that all will be okay.

Ah, to have that kind of faith!
