Blogging Tools {for WordPress platform}

Generate Press – This is the theme I’m using now. Get it HERE. If you hate code, you need this theme. GP is a responsive WordPress theme and my best blogging decision. There’s a free version, but I recommend the $39.95 GP Premium for life. is hosted by Bluehost and run on the platform. Social Media Posting/Management

BoardBooster – It’s how I manage Pinterest {revolving pins, group boards, etc}. Get it HERE. Once set up, BoardBooster basically does the work for you. There’s a free version with limited pinning. I’m currently using the $10.00 a month level.

Social Jukebox – Time spent curating and scheduling social media posts can take hours, if not days. EVERY WEEK. Social Jukebox rescued me. It’s all about evergreen content and auto-posting. They no longer offer a free account, but if you have $19.99 in your monthly budget this is a big time-saver.

Buffer – Buffer’s free service for Twitter + Facebook posting works well, though my use of Social Jukebox has reduced this greatly. I still use Buffer to ‘schedule & notify’ for Instagram posts.

IFTTT – The Applets provided by IFTTT allow you to do more with the services you’re already using. My favorite Applet is the one that automatically Tweets my native Instagram images (as opposed to only sharing a link on Twitter). Free.

WP Plugins

Compress JPEG & PNG Images – The speed of my site was awful until I started using this plugin. Pay attention to the settings. If you have hundreds of images already uploaded, you may need to batch existing images in segments to avoid going over your monthly free limit.

Shareaholic – Create social media buttons to coordinate with your website theme. With Shareaholic, you can insert follow and share buttons on your site, make your images shareable to Pinterest, and more. Free.

UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore – This plugin has worked great for me. I backup my site files to Dropbox. Free.

WP Sweep – This plugin is fantastic for cleaning up your site of unused, orphaned, and duplicate data. Free.

Yoast SEO – If you are like me and want to pull your hair out at the mention of SEO, get this plugin. That’s all. Free.

Other *Helps* I Can’t Blog Without – As a faith-blogger, I need to link to Bible references often. makes this fast and free, removing the need to cite references within the post.

Canva – Most of the graphics you see on this blog are made using Canva’s free service. They’ve released an App that syncs your account across devices, making it possible to design on the go. I primarily use Canva on the computer.

Trello – It’s how I keep track of ideas and references for blog posts/writing, work projects, and all those thoughts running around in my head. This App replaces the mountain of sticky notes, random ideas, and notes in your phone. And it’s free.
